U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Iran and Israel have agreed to a "complete and total" ceasefire following 12 days of escalating missile strikes that risked igniting a regional war. Trump posted the statement on Truth Social, saying the agreement will begin as a staggered 24-hour process, with Iran halting all operations at 0400 GMT Tuesday, followed by Israel 12 hours later. The ceasefire comes after hundreds were killed in Iran and dozens in Israel, and amid rising international fears of broader conflict. Tensions peaked with U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, followed by a retaliatory Iranian missile attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Though no casualties were reported, the incident marked a critical turning point. Trump said the ceasefire would mark an “official end” to hostilities, with both sides expected to remain peaceful through the process.
